The Initiative for Legal Aid (ILA) welcomed the Executive Director of Salam Junub (Peace South Sudan) for a strategic courtesy visit in Juba, bringing together two South Sudanese civil society leaders to explore opportunities for stronger collaboration in support of peace, justice, good governance and community development.
The engagement provided an opportunity for the two organisations to exchange perspectives, identify areas of mutual interest and discuss practical pathways for partnership that can strengthen services and opportunities available to communities across South Sudan.
Building stronger partnerships for greater community impact
During the meeting, the two leaders held constructive discussions on potential areas of cooperation, including peacebuilding, access to justice, human rights, good governance, legal empowerment, community engagement, humanitarian support, advocacy and community development.
The discussions emphasised the importance of collaboration among South Sudanese civil society organisations in responding to complex community challenges and promoting inclusive, peaceful and accountable societies.
Potential areas of collaboration include:
- Peacebuilding & Social Cohesion — Supporting initiatives that promote dialogue, peaceful coexistence and community resilience.
- Access to Justice & Legal Empowerment — Expanding awareness of rights and improving access to legal information, advice and appropriate referrals.

Youth partnership takes centre stage
During the visit, the ILA Executive Director also briefed the Executive Director of Salam Junub about the forthcoming ILA–Central Equatoria State Youth Union Partnership Signing Ceremony.
