ILA successfully concluded a radio talk show on Favour FM, bringing legal awareness and public dialogue directly to communities that may otherwise have limited access to legal information and services.
The programme featured ILA Executive Director, Advocate Emmanuel Sumagule Benaih Swaka, alongside Safeguarding Officer Mr. Alhaj Abdalla.
During the discussion, Advocate Emmanuel introduced ILA's mission and highlighted the importance of helping people understand their rights, recognize violations, appropriately document incidents, seek proper legal guidance, and take informed steps towards accessing justice.

Turning legal awareness into community reach
For ILA, legal aid is not only about responding when a case reaches an office or a courtroom. It also begins with awareness.
Through public education and community engagement, ILA is working to help close the information gap between communities and the justice system.
The organisation's vision is to take legal awareness and support beyond Juba and progressively reach communities across South Sudan, including grassroots and Boma-level communities.
The radio platform demonstrated the potential of this approach.
The programme reached a reported audience of approximately 20,000 radio listeners, alongside 6 online listeners.
This means that a conversation about rights, protection and access to justice was taken directly into homes and communities through the power of radio.
Partnerships that expand impact
The discussion also highlighted ILA's partnership with the Central Equatoria State Youth Union (CESYU) and the nine thematic pillars supporting cooperation around youth participation, legal empowerment, human rights, protection, peacebuilding, good governance and community engagement.
Such partnerships provide an opportunity to connect legal expertise with youth networks and community structures, creating wider pathways for people to access information, referrals and support.
Advocate Emmanuel also reflected on ILA's journey and highlighted the organisation's support to approximately 35 people across different cases during 2026, demonstrating its continued engagement with people seeking assistance.
From one conversation to thousands of people
The objective is simple but important:
- People should know their rights.
- People should know where to seek help.
- Communities should have access to reliable legal information.
ILA believes that an informed community is better positioned to understand, protect and exercise its rights.
We sincerely appreciate Mr. Emmanuel Kayanga of Favour FM for providing the platform and facilitating this important public conversation.
We also thank everyone who listened, engaged and supported the programme.
ILA will continue working to bridge the gap between people and access to justice through legal aid, public awareness, partnerships and community engagement.
